The 1939 - 1945 Star Medal by King George VI.
This
six–pointed star medal was awarded for service in World War II by King
George VI. It has a wonderful central design of the Royal Cypher,
surmounted by a crown. The cypher is surrounded by a circlet containing
the words ‘The 1939-1945 Star', the reverse is plain. The ribbon
has three vertical stripes. The navy blue stripe represents the Naval
Forces and the Merchant Navy, the red stripe the Armies and the light
(sky) blue stripe the Air Forces. The ribbon for this medal, along with
those of the other Second World War campaign stars, was designed by King
George VI representing the equal contributions towards victory of the
Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force respectively. An item from a
monumental time in history for the world.

Material: Yellow copper zinc alloy
and a 3 colour ribbon (navy blue, red and sky blue)
